Pro mode is Taking London's built-in automation. You tell it how you want a city to end up, and it does the clicking: building, researching, training and farming. It reads the same style of instructions as NEATBot, the bot from the original Evony, though it isn't identical, so old scripts may need changes.

This page is a player-written overview. The official Pro mode guide is the final word, with every option explained in full.

Before you switch it on

Upgrading the Town Hall to level 5 ends beginner protection, based on what players have seen so far. The bot doesn't know you want to keep it. A build goal can reach that level, and it can also get there on its own if something else needs a higher Town Hall.

If you want to stay protected, keep your goals below Town Hall 5, add prerequisites 0, and read the console before leaving the bot running.

Getting started

  1. Open the Pro mode button on the right of the screen, under your city details.
  2. Turn on the master switch at the top.
  3. Write your goals, then read the console. It says how the bot understood what you wrote, so check it whenever you change something.

Each city has its own goals. A goal in one city does nothing in another.

Goals and scripts

Pro mode works in two ways:

GoalsScripts
What you writeHow the city should end upSteps to follow in order
Good forOngoing city development and farmingOne-off jobs and exact timing
Examplebuild c:9:8attack 299,542 any a:5000

Most players start with goals, and only write scripts for what goals can't do.

Writing goals

A goal is a keyword followed by its details. build c:9:8 means "have eight Cottages at level 9".

A few rules cover most mistakes:

  • Capitals don't matter for keywords.
  • Spaces separate the details, and commas separate the entries inside one detail.
  • Goals are checked as a whole. If any line is wrong, none of them apply, and the error says which line.
  • Notes: blank lines are ignored, and so is any line starting with // or #. This also lets you switch a goal off without deleting it.
  • Big numbers can end in k, m, b or t, so 50k is 50,000 and 1.5m is 1,500,000.
  • It sorts out what's needed first. If a building needs another building or a tech, the bot gets that too, unless you turn this off with prerequisites 0. If it's off, a goal can sit waiting, and the console says what for.

A simple start

This is an example to adapt, not a recommended build. It keeps a little food back and builds up the basics, while staying under Town Hall 5.

// Don't let anything push the Town Hall up on its own
prerequisites 0

// Keep some food back
reserveresources f:50k

// Town Hall, then eight Cottages
build t:4
build c:5:8

// Some research and an army
research ag:3
troop w:500,a:100

Short names

Goals and scripts use short names. The game's menus don't always match the guide's names, so both are here where they differ. The in-game names were seen on one server, so yours may vary.

The same letter can mean different things: r is the Rally Spot in build, a Battering Ram in troop, and a Rolling Log in fortification. What it means depends on the goal.

Fitting fortifications on your Walls

fortification counts pieces, but your Walls can run out of room first. Each type takes up space: Trap 1, Abatis 2, Archer's Tower 3, Rolling Log 4 and Trebuchet 5. Players have seen level 9 Walls hold 45,000 space and level 10 hold 55,000. If your goals need more, the game warns you, and the bot fills up in the order you wrote them, so later types get squeezed out.

For example, fortification tra:5k,ab:4k,at:6k,r:3.5k needs exactly 45,000 space.

All the goals

There are 34 goals, grouped here by what they're for. The official guide has the details of each.

Choosing heroes

Many goals and commands take a hero string, which says which heroes it means:

You writeIt means
anyAny hero
noneNo hero
BobThe hero called Bob
Bob,FredBob or Fred
!BobAny hero except Bob
att*Names starting with "att". * is one or more characters, and ? is exactly one
any:attack>180Any hero with more than 180 attack
any:attack>300,base>60Heroes that pass both checks
any:attack=bestThe hero with the best attack

The stats you can check are attack, politics, intel, loyalty, level, experience, points and base. A hero string can't be only a number. That's a safety feature, so swapping a number for a hero string by mistake can't cost you a valuable hero.

Scripts

A script is a list of commands the bot works through in your browser. It's useful for exact timing, one-off jobs and anything goals don't cover.

This one attacks, waits half a minute, recalls everything, waits a minute or two, then does it all again, ten times over. Change the coordinates and troops to suit:

label farm
attack 299,542 any a:5000
if $error goto later
sleep 30
label later
recallall
sleep rnd:60:120
loop 10 farm

travelinfo is handy before a big march. It tells you how long the trip takes, what the troops eat and what they can carry, without sending anything:

travelinfo 111,222 c:10,cata:10

Some of the original NEATBot's commands aren't available here. The official guide lists them.

The NEATBot Generator

Writing all of this by hand is fiddly, so there's a free tool for it. The NEATBot Generator lets you build goals and scripts by pointing and clicking, then paste the result into the game.

  • Goals: a form for all 34 goals, with presets such as "everything to level N", medal hunting and NPC farming. It also catches lines the game would reject.
  • Script: forms for the script commands, plus ready-made recipes such as hiding food in transit, an NPC farming loop and daily chores.
  • Reference: the Pro mode guide, searchable.

It's an unofficial fan tool, made by a player. It isn't made, endorsed or supported by the Taking London team. It only writes text for you to paste, and it doesn't connect to the game or your account. After pasting goals, check the console to see how the bot read them.
